Thoughts on Paint Brushes

Today I sat down at my bench and decided I needed to start painting some details on a few figures I am working on. As this is simply improving some existing figures it will primarily be fine line work so I looked for a couple of new brushes that would work for the task. I keep many of my brushes ready at arms length in various containers on my bench and have another drawer full in a nearby organizer. While rummaging for just the right brushes for the project I realized I rarely throw any brushes away.

I suppose that is because long after they lose shape or splay out, they can still be useful for the dry brushing techniques, or even to clean hard to reach parts of a model.

With that said, some of them really had to go. It was a harder call than it should have been to decide which ones to discard because some of these have been with me for a very long time and have performed well on past projects.

Even after going through the drawer I ended up keeping some pretty worn out examples for future work but seven are definitely headed to the trash bin!
